Unleashing the Power of Unconditional Cash for Conservation

Who are we?

The Cash for Conservation Group was established in 2024 to support and mainstream existing work at the intersection of cash transfer and conservation programming.

Our purpose is to advance the use of cash transfers in conservation and nature programming through collaborative research, policy development, project implementation, and advocacy.

We want to demonstrate to practitioners, governments and donors that providing direct cash resources to local communities is a powerful tool to maximise human dignity and environmental outcomes.

This video, from one of our co-founders, Give Directly, sets out the rationale for Cash for Conservation from one of their projects in Rwanda.
